What did you do this week?
Our group started working on Project 2. We’re making steady progress in getting everyone on the same page (in terms of design), and setting up everything we need. We’ll be in good shape for the deadline on Thursday and for the rest of the project. Outside of SWE,

What’s in your way?
Our group has started working with React to build the website, except I have minimal exposure to React, so I’m going to have to catch up with my groupmates’s level of experience with React before I can meaningfully contributing to our project.

What will you do next week?
I will spend the next week learning React and finishing building the static website necessary for Part I of the project with my groupmates. I’m also looking forward to getting some work done on my personal projects, since I know I’ll have more free time this week.

What was your experience of iteration, AWS, and Chef Secure?
I missed class on Wednesday and Friday, so I missed the AWS and Chef Secure lectures, but I took a look at the Chef Secure website and found the introductory video really interesting. I’ve always had an interest in security, but I never liked low level programming languages so I didn’t think there was much opportunity for me to explore that topic. Fortunately, thanks to Chef Secure, I saw that there was more than one way to hack and identify vulnerabilities. The way he did it was also really interesting to me, so I’m even considering taking the course.

What made you happy this week?
I had three midterms last week, so I was just holed up in my room grinding for those. After I was done, I had a solid night celebrating a friend’s birthday, and Saturday I did absolutely nothing and just relaxed and recovered. I was happy because I spent a whole week working hard and then relaxing, which is my ideal week.

What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?
My cliche tip of the week is to really learn time management skills. I think this thought struck me harder this week since I really had to study day and night to get through my exams, which was a great experience but I’d rather not ever do that again.
