Me

What did you do this past week?
This week, I just caught up on some work and started studying for a couple midterms (this class included) that I have before spring break starts. I also hung out with a lot of friends this weekend, which was really nice.

What’s in your way?
The Coronavirus. I had a 29% return on my investments this year, but it tanked all the way down to 3% after the Coronavirus. On top of that, my friends and I were going to go to Colorado for the first half of Spring Break, but we ultimately decided to cancel the trip because of the panic that the virus is spreading throughout the state. Shoutout to UT’s R&D department for making large strides in finding a cure, though.

What will you do next week?
Next week, I plan to continue studying for midterms, and once they’re over, get some work done on my side projects, which I’ve been putting off for a while. I also wasn’t able to get an offer for an internship this summer, so this week will probably be my last ditch effort to apply to as many companies that are still accepting applications as possible to see if I can snag a last minute opportunity.

What was your experience of =, *, **, and decorators?
I really enjoyed learning about the aforementioned items, because it showed me how versatile and useful Python can be for development. I’m working with Python for all my side projects, and I really enjoy how this class is supplementing me with the knowledge required to do those projects more efficiently.

What made you happy this week?
I had a really great weekend where I saw lots of friends and socialized a lot. Even though I didn’t get much work done, it was a nice relief and escape from the usual stresses of college. It was a nice way to reward myself for my midterms the week before.

What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?
It’s easy to get caught up with doing a ton of work to try to outdo the competition, especially as a CS major, but my tip-of-the-week is to make sure you regularly slow down and take time to hang out with friends. We all end up in the same grave, anyway.
Also, for anyone who’s trying to start cooking but is having trouble, I recommend Mealime.
