What did you do this past week?

This past week, I came back to Austin. It’s been really nice seeing my roommates again and catching up with them. As for this class, I finished the Voting project. I still haven’t caught up with the lectures I missed, though, since I was swamped with packing, flying out, and unpacking. This was still a good week for me, though, since the first half of my week was really productive.

What’s in your way?

Nothing for OOP, but in general, I really need to catch up on all my work. I feel like I’m always playing catch up — it’s pretty exhausting, but as I continue to improve my time management skills I hope I’ll be able to get rid of that feeling.

What will you do next week?

By next week, I hope to be done with catching up with all my classes, and I plan to find a partner and start the new project for this class. Other than that, I need to apply to more companies for internships and do some coding challenges that I was sent, as well.

If you read it, what did you think of Why Is Silicon Valley So Awful to Women?

It was hard for me to see examples of sexism in Silicon Valley that still occur to this day and age. It’s a pretty sensitive topic that is frankly hard for me to discuss, but I think that’s the whole point. In addition, it pretty much reaffirmed what I already knew about the experience.

What was your experience of arrays, equal(), and iterators?

I haven’t watched class yet, but assuming that the content is similar to what was covered in SWE, which I took last semester, I think the content is really interesting. There’s a lot of use cases for all three, and I personally use them often in all my code.

What made you happy this week?

As I mentioned earlier, I was really happy to come back to Austin this week. It was really nice catching up with everyone.

What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?

My tip of the week is to take time to wind down. This semester has been pretty rough for me so far, and I know it’s just going to get worse, but reminding myself to take time out of my day to go talk to some friends really makes things much easier.
