What did you do this past week?

This past week, I didn’t really do anything for CS371p oops. I was pretty bogged down with other stuff, as per usual I guess, and I had to prep for a midterm and some work for another class instead. I plan on grinding out the project tomorrow and finishing it up.

What’s in your way?

There’s not much in my way. I didn’t decide to get a partner for this first project, for various reasons, like I was pretty busy and preferred to work on my own time, but I will definitely be getting a partner for the next few projects. I’m also heading to Austin next week, so preparing for that trip will eat up a little more of my time.

What will you do next week?

Starting this week, I’ll finish up my Voting project. Next week, I assume there won’t be much to do for this class at least, so I’ll be spending most of my time moving in to my apartment, and unpacking and all that.

What was your experience of values, addresses, references and consts? (this question will vary, week to week)

I thought this was pretty confusing, to be honest. As Professor Downing said, it takes a while to get used to, and to be honest, after absorbing the logic, I didn’t find it too hard to understand, but it just felt very overkill to me. Looking back, however, all the C++ compiler rules and logic made sense to me — I just didn’t see much value in learning about it in a class about object oriented programming.

What made you happy this week?

This week, I was happy to see a lot of friends. Since I’m going back to Austin, I’m hanging out with all my remaining friends one final time and getting my goodbyes in. It felt good to see them, and even better to know I’ll be seeing my college friends again soon, too.

What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?

My tip of the week is to listen to your body. Sometimes, we’re just too tired to work, and it makes more sense to recover and work twice as hard the next day than it does to force yourself to work when you’re at your limit.
